Evelyn Sue Merrill, 83, of Dalhart, peacefully departed this world on October 28, 2024. A celebration of her remarkable life will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Dalhart Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, Evelyn will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dalhart Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Evelyn and her family during this time.
Born on December 21, 1940, to Joe and Inez (Griffith) Turner in Gracemont, OK, Evelyn was a great example of love and faith throughout her life. As a devoted homemaker, she expressed compassion, godliness, and nurturing care. Evelyn's impact extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless children she cared for in her home. The last two children that were in her home care were her great niece and nephew Khodee and Kholten whom she spoiled rotten! Her love even reached out to incarcerated women through her passionate Bible studies at the local jail.
Evelyn's love for God was the cornerstone of her existence, and she shared her faith with everyone she encountered. Her acts of kindness, patience, and understanding will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. As the most nurturing mother, grandmother, loving sister, patient wife, understanding daughter, and sweetest aunt, Evelyn set an unmatched standard of love and care.
While Evelyn has been reunited with her parents, sister Shirley Keel, and daughter Lesa Merrill in heaven, her memory lives on through her beloved family. She is survived by her cherished sisters, Janice Boatman and Anita Brace, along with numerous other family members who deeply loved and cared for her.
