Jo Ann Henderson went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on June 19, 2024, at the age of 82. A Celebration of Life Service under the direction of Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be held at First Baptist Church on June 22, 2024, at 11:00, with Gideon Jennings and Kevin Caddell officiating. A Private Interment will be held. Jo Ann will lie in state from 9 o' clock in the morning until 9 o' clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home for all her friends to come and go as the please.

Jo Ann was born to Oscar and Agnes Workman on June 14, 1942, in rural Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the sixth child of eleven children born to the Workman family.

She graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1960 and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She came to Dalhart and started her teaching career at Kella Hill Elementary in the fall of 1964. During her career, she was awarded Teacher of the Year and Who's Who American Teacher nominee. Jo Ann retired from teaching in 1997. She loved her students and fellow teachers greatly and they all held a special place in her heart.

She married Joe Coleman Henderson on June 2, 1966. Dalhart became her home. To this union two daughters were born, Steffanie and Desha.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Joe of 49 years, her parents, five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters: Steffanie Henderson of Amarillo and Desha Butler (Kyle) of Claude; two granddaughters, Addison and Breleigh Butler of Claude, one step son Mike Henderson (Cheryl) of Frankston, TX, one step daughter, Carman Kates (Joe) of Lewisville, TX; two step grandsons, Justin Henderson (Raye) and Nick Henderson; five great grandchildren, Jake, Ava, Brooklyn, Riley and Tynlee; three sisters; Bobbie Curtis, Sue Bingham and Dianne Pennypacker and one brother, Phillip Workman; and a host of nieces and nephews, loving friends and neighbors.

Jo Ann was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dalhart for over 60 years and a loyal partner to Cowboy Church. She loved God, her family, and friends deeply. Now Jo Ann has heard, "Welcome home, thy good and faithful servant!"

The Henderson family would like to say a sincere thank you to all her special friends who helped her through her cancer journey.
