It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Randall Devane Stewart, born on April 20, 1937, in Grimes, Oklahoma, to Earl Edgar (Fat) and Johnnie Cecil (Tice) Stewart. Randall left this world on October 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Randall graduated from Erick High School in 1955 and began his lifelong journey with the Fort Worth & Denver/Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring from BNSF in 1999. He cherished his work and the friendships he made along the way.
On June 29, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Dean Callen. They started their life together in Texline, Texas, before moving to Dalhart, where they built a home filled with love and cherished memories. In November 1961, Randall was drafted into the Army, serving honorably until his discharge in November 1963. He returned to Dalhart, where he and Wilma would remain, nurturing their family and community ties.
Randall was a devoted father to his three children: Valerie, Randall Jr. (Randy), and Richey. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of the Denver Avenue Church of Christ, where he found strength and fellowship.
In a beautiful new chapter, Randall married Linda Elms Zinser on May 5, 2019. Their love brought joy and companionship, enriching his later years.
Randall is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his daughter Valerie Marshall of Lubbock; and his son Randy Stewart and wife Denise of Midland. He was a proud grandfather to Dane Stewart and wife Aubree of Idalou, Zane Stewart and wife Whitney of Midland, Clay Hill of Lubbock, Callen Stewart of Lubbock, Coy Stewart of Horseshoe Bay, Destini King of Midland, and Alisyn Gravel and husband Stephen of Midland. He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren: Harper, Rhett, Harlee, Ryder, Brynlee, Zanden, Zerron, Zaylie, Zaxton, Kyle, Graysen, Jaxon, Willow, and Stanton, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Randall also cherished his stepchildren, Sami Dennis and husband Dwayne of Dalhart, Jennifer Bowers and husband Jarret of Dalhart, and Will Zinser of Brooklyn, NY, along with his step-grandchildren Kali Dennis, Kenzie Dennis, Jolie Bowers, and Dylan Bowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Wilma on April 22, 2017, and his son Richey on August 23, 2019.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the Denver St Church of Christ with Pastor Dean Whaley officiating and Pastor Clay Lobley assisting. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Stewart will lay in state from noon until 6:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. Immediately following the family will then recive friends until 8:00pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
