With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rebekah Van Dijk on March 12, 2025, at the age of 29. A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Rebekah's vibrant spirit and unwavering love for those around her will be deeply missed.
Born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Rebekah spent her life loving and serving others. Her presence was larger than life—both literally and figuratively. Standing tall at 6 '5, she was a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, leaving a lasting mark on the game. Off the court, she pursued a successful career as a CPA, demonstrating the same dedication and determination that defined her upbringing.
Rebekah’s love for life was evident in everything she did. She found joy in food, plants, traveling, and—above all—her faith, family, and friends. She adored being “Tante B” to her nieces and nephews and cherished every moment spent with them. Her kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to God and those she loved will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving mother, Appie Van Dijk; her sisters, Esther Roode (Philip Roode and Leah Roode) and Deborah Lopez (Ruben Lopez, Rexton Lopez, and Rayden Lopez); her brother, Nathaneal Van Dijk, and her grandmothers, Wiepie Jongsma and Baukje Van Dijk. She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Van Dijk and grandfathers, Jelle Jongsma and Gabe Van Dijk.
A celebration of Rebekah’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas. A burial service will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Nazareth, Texas.
Rebekah was a rare and beautiful soul—tough as nails but with a heart that overflowed with love. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering strength will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Rebekah’s favorite color was green so if you want to wear green to the service in honor of her you are more than welcome to.
