Vernon Charles Coe, 71, of Dalhart, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in his home. A Memorial Service for Mr. Coe will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Dalhart Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Jimmye Cole officiating. The inurnment will follow at 12:00 pm (MST) in Campo Cemetery, Campo, CO. Arrangements are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Vernon was born on June 13, 1953, in Denver, CO, to Charles Marion and Zelma (Eaton) Coe. He attended high school and earned his GED, demonstrating his commitment to education. On March 5, 1976, Vernon married the love of his life, Betty Elizabeth Erichson, in Clayton, NM, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted nearly five decades.
Vernon was man of both firm faith and dedication. He had a strong work ethic and always provided for his family. He spent most of his career as a truck driver, finding joy and purpose in the open road. Above all, Vernon was a devoted man of God, whose faith touched the lives of many. His kindness, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Zelma, and his siblings: James Edwin, Paul Marion, and Sharon Ruth.
Vernon is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Elizabeth, of the home; his son, Rex Charles and wife Natasha, also of the home; one brother, David Coe of Borger; two cherished grandchildren, Kenny and Zelma; and a very special furry companion who brought him great comfort and answered to Monkey.
