**The family will be at 817 Denrock Ave.**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vickie Valdez, an adored mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, who peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2024. Born in Dalhart, Texas, to Nick Luera Sr. and Fannie Luera on June 15, 1941, Vickie lived her entire life in this cherished community, touching the hearts of many along the way. Vickie will be dearly missed by every person who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As a devoted homemaker, Vickie created a warm and loving home for her family, instilling values of faith, kindness, and compassion. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church, where she found strength and comfort in reading God's word. Her greatest pride and joy came from her baptism in Christ, a treasured accomplishment that shaped her spiritual journey.
Vickie was married to Joe Valdez, and together they shared many happy years and six wonderful children; Vickie had a knack for making connections and found joy in simple pleasures. Whether she was immersed in a word search, enjoying a spirited game of Sequence with family and friends, or sharing stories and laughter, she brought light and love into every moment.
She is survived by her four daughters: Rachel Gallegos, Roberta Blanco and husband Chalo, Cathlene Edwards and husband Jeff, and Theresa Green and husband Jon. Her legacy continues through her two sons, Richie Gallegos and Robert Valdez. Vickie is also remembered by her sister, Fannie Zambrano, her brother, Nick Luera, daughter-in-law Sheila Gallegos, and a remarkable family of fourteen grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and eleven step-great-grandchildren.
Vickie leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and friendship that will forever be cherished. As we celebrate her life, we invite everyone to honor her memory by sharing stories, laughter, and love-just as she would have wanted.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Friday, October 18, 2024 at First Christian Church with Pastor Mark Scales officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Valdez will lay in state from 1-8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Dalhart Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
